What to do when commands are not working in Dragon software?

If Not: Check your Recognition mode in the Status Window. To utilize directions, you ought to be in Dictation mode (Dictation mode pointer) or Commands mode (Commands mode marker). See Recognition modes for data about changing Recognition modes.
